Latest Hogsmeade Attack..Firius Oxley rumored to have Orchestrated.
By Rita Skeeter

When we think of the young man who is Firius Oxley, or as yours truly uncovered...Firius Burnside..we wonder if the boy was not met with tragedy...or perhaps...something far more sinister was at work. Why has the boy never mourned the family that loved him and took him in? Why has he not been seen since that night? Was he coming to the rescue of his family...or perhaps...wanting to see his handiwork?

Rumors persist that Firius Oxley...having been born Firius Burnside...may have uncovered his true origins on his own. Wanting to confirm his true family ties...he found a way to contact Death Eaters and rallies to their cause...much like his father before him. His family's tragic demise may have been orchestrated...and would certainly be a good enough reason for Firius Oxley to want revenge on all of Hogsmeade for keeping this information from him for so long.

"Always knew something was off about that boy." Says Durmle Stegenson...a neighbor of the Oxleys. "There was just something about him that never seemed quite right. His family always said he was adopted...and that was the end of it. Like they were afraid he would find it or anyone else would. Well they should have just avoided him if they ever knew his true origin. Especially where it's got them now. He has never been back here once since then...you'd think after all they did for him he would be here. But nothing doing. No doubt where that boy's loyalties lie."

Rumors persist regarding the young boy inside school as well. He has few friends and most often is seen alone. No doubt Professor Dumbledore will restrict such behavior. Having at one point had a girlfriend...once the parents found out...the girl was pulled from Hogwarts almost immediately. Not to mention that Firius Oxley is rarely seen hanging around his own house anymore. It seems sad but true...that the once tragic story behind Firius Oxley...was a calculated attack. For Death Eaters to attack such a village as Hogsmeade twice so successfully...encourages investigation as to how they were able to know the security measures so well. But of course if a certain young wizard that lived there was able to tell You Know Who about all the measures in place...it would certainly explain how the Death Eaters were able to get in and out with so little resistance.

It seems sad but true...that Firius Oxley has chosen to take the darker path of parents he never knew rather than follow in the footsteps of those that loved him so. Hopefully if Firius Oxley does show his face in Hogsmeade again...readers will be aware...though the boy may look on his own...he apparently..has very powerful friends. Friends that the Ministry...along with Firius himself, would very much like to talk to.

Rita Skeeter's Latest Scoop (Professor Dumbledore, McGonagall)
Posted by: jelfman - Mar 12, 2016, 10:32 PM - Forum: Headmaster's Office - No Replies

Albus Dumbledore Hogwarts Headmaster Order of the Phoenix Founder
Minerva McGonagall Deputy Headmistress.

Albus Dumbledore was reading the Prophet. The look on his face told him the story wasn't to his liking...but what could one expect when it was Rita Skeeter who had written the article. He continued reading....knowing one of his students was the subject of scrutiny once again.

Latest Hogsmeade Attack..Firius Oxley rumored to have Orchestrated.

When we think of the young man who is Firius Oxley, or as yours truly uncovered...Firius Burnside..we wonder if the boy was not met with tragedy...or perhaps...something far more sinister was at work. Friends that the Ministry...along with Firius himself, would very much like to talk to."

Albus rubbed his eyes. Enchantingly nasty as he would come to expect from Rita Skeeter. His thoughts were interrupted however..as Professor McGonagall soon came into his office...she had the story in her hand...and looked outraged.

"Albus...how in...why...that AWFUL woman." She exclaimed...nearly shaking with anger. "Albus how in the world are we supposed to stop this? Firius had NOTHING...NOTHING to do with the attack on his family. This woman keeps insinuating otherwise for no other reason than to see her own words in print. I have a good mind to send her an Owl myself and tell her to take this story and..."

"Minerva..." Albus said in a fatherly tone that interrupted her rant. "I understand your feeling on the matter. They reflect my own but you know as well as I Rita would only take what we write and twist it as she has done so many many times in the past. That is why her continued banishment from these grounds will remain in effect for quite some time to come."

She nodded her head. "But honestly Albus..with the hate mail the boy got the first time...he's bound to get twice as many Howlers now. He scared most of the younger years to death with what he did last time...I don't dare think what will happen when the mail comes now. I've tried to talk with him but no one seems to know where he is. I'm sure he has seen the paper again. I've sent the prefects to try and find him but no such luck."

Dumbledore nodded. "I'm sure Firius won't do anything rash Minerva. He may just wish to be alone. I daresay Hogwarts may very well be aiding the boy in hiding at the moment rather than everyone harassing him about what has just come out. Though some of the article may be accurate...Rita is a bit behind the times. I saw Firius and Harry talking together for quite some time after he rescued Leni from the water. This newest story may slow down his house's forgiveness of him...but I daresay it won't halt it. He and Harry on speaking terms so soon after their incident gives me great hope indeed. Not to mention the other small miracle that happened as a result of it. I take it...his spellwork is back to where it once was?" He asked.

Minerva nodded. "Well yes...He was having difficulty with that arm..but since his arm and eye...were repaired..he's back to where he was before in Transfiguration, and I'm sure the rest of his classes as well. I've started having him help the other students that were having difficulty again as a way to keep him occupied for the duration of classes. But he's changed Albus...more cautious...not showing off as much."

Dumbledore nodded. "As I suspected. Firius has done more to help his own predicament than even I could have. Few wizards could ever do what he has done Minerva. With what has happened in Hogsmeade, with how he handled himself during rescuing Leni...and not to mention that what once restricted him here...is not really a factor anymore...I feel...it may be good in the long run...to allow Firius to return to Hogsmeade when he wishes on weekends."

Minerva looked to Albus. "But Albus with the stories going on now about him? He could very well get attacked trying to return there."

Albus shook his head. "I don't feel anyone would attack Firius Minerva. They would be too afraid...but they also would want answers. I feel their curiosity about what happened would outweigh Rita's words regarding him. As it is...keeping him here is not helping him either. He has not been allowed to go back to that house...or even properly say goodbye to the ruin that once was his home. He needs closure Minerva. Firius would be much better off given the opportunity to say goodbye to his family...perhaps then...he would be more willing to say Hello to his new one." He stated

Minerva's nostrils flared. "Well it's not like they have said hello to him either Albus. The boy has gone through hell and is doing it on his own. I would have thought Tom would have at least sent a letter or something...but I've checked the Owlery and Firius has not recieved one letter since being adopted by him. I know it's hard at the Ministry but honestly the boy comes of age next year...and has gone through the most difficult trials of his life. Not to mention he has his OWL exams at the end of the year. " She said wondering how the boy was coping with it...but all the more proud so far that he was.

Albus nodded his head. "All the more reason to let him leave Hogwarts once in a while Minerva. Firius accepts responsibility for the Quidditch Fiasco and what he could have done better in rescuing Leni...where once the boy would have played up the hero...he has not done that at all..despite how heroic he truly was in such danger. Voldemort's hold on him has been weakened signficantly with what Firius has accomplished. I don't think Voldemort will want to engage Firius anytime soon...not until he figures out how Firius was able to alter the magic Voldemort used on him. I think Firius has earned back some trust Minerva...and getting out of the school will do him some good. Even if he chooses to stay here instead of go to Hogsmeade every weekend...which may very well be the case afterwards...but at least then it is his choice...not one forced by us. Do you not agree...has he not shown all the traits one would expect from a Gryffindor...even though his own house has not had much to do with him as of late?"

Minerva thought for a moment. "Well yes Albus he truly has. Alright...but I think one of the prefects may want to stay with him...or at least have them check in with them every so often if he does go there. I'm sure Mr Weasley or Ms Granger would be more than willing to do so. Though I think Severus is not going to be so willing to accept this." She mused.

Dumbledore nodded. "I have a feeling Severus will be more accepting of this given recent events. You will tell Firius the good news I trust." He asked.

"Yes yes...it's going to be a good day for him....I see no reason why to keep his broomstick either so I will discuss both with him tonight. WIth he and Potter patching things up I daresay Harry will want to keep any on the team as it is...and being Firius is obviously not addicted to potions anymore...plus I think Lexx was also wanting to weigh in on that decision. So if there is no objections I may lift the ban on quidditch I imposed on him. If the team he embarrased has no problems taking him back, and Slytherin wants to play him for the challenge..." She trailed off.

Albus laughed. "Yes..I shall leave that decision to you Minerva...you have my support as always."

Minerva nodded. "Thank you Albus." With that she left...hoping that whatever Firius was doing...it wasn't how to make a bigger fireball during breakfast.

Untapped Potential (Lord Voldemort, Darius Burnside)
Posted by: jelfman - Mar 11, 2016, 12:50 AM - Forum: The Wizarding World - No Replies

Darius Burnside Slytherin Alum, Ministry of Magic Employee

Lord Voldemort Dark Wizard Supreme

Darius scanned and rescanned the letter over and over again since getting it from his grandson. A grandson he had never met...a grandson that didn't even know who he truly was...but with luck that would change. The boy could be nurtured...but with the news the letter revealed, Darius knew he would have to talk to the Dark Lord. It was such an astounding tale that for a moment Darius thought the boy had inherited his father's talent for telling ridiculous lies. The rumor mill about Hogwarts certainly suggested such a thing at any rate. But having heard from a few DEs now...it had been true. Firius Oxley had had his arm cut off by the Dark Lord himself...replaced with the Dark Lord's mercy...yet astonishingly..he had somehow removed it..and placed a full organic arm there once again. Magic the Dark Lord could not have even done. It was what brought Darius here in the first place. He didn't want his grandson going the way of his foolish father...and he hoped this time...he could stem the dangerous pattern from repeating itself.

One of the Death Eaters motioned to Darius...he nodded curtly and proceeded through a dark lit door. He knelt before a figure in a lounging chair...

"Rise Darius....I did not think it would be too long before I saw you once again...especially with news of your Grandson in the papers. I hear Rita Skeeter has another article insinuating his involvement in the latest Hogsmeade attack. This pleases me of course. It keeps the eyes of foolish witches and wizards that are unwilling to think for themselves away from much more...merited work. I assume you are here of course...to ask about the boy? You may rise Darius."

Darius nodded as he stood up. "Yes my lord...thank you my lord for seeing me. I know you have many many far more important things on your mind. I just...well as you know...the boy is the last of our bloodline. Exception of course for Sorena and myself...but we are too old to have another child. I don't ask for the boy to be spared my lord...I ask for the opportunity to prove he could be...a useful asset. Not just some one use pawn. The boy has potential my lord...surely you...." He stopped there in fear he had overstepped..."That is..I'm sure you have heard the stories regarding the boy recently. He has been starved of his birth right my lord I am certain of it. His father of course lacked many talents needed to do our work but he himself also had a knack for dark magic. I feel Firius is the same my lord. There are some simple tests I can do that would guarantee I am right. There are some old family spell books. Bonded with blood magic...but only wizards in our family that had a knack for the dark arts would be able to open and see them. If Firius couldn't open the book...we would know immediately if he could be taught."

The Dark Lord listened intently..."The boy...has shown to me he is very hard to kill. He defied death once before he came to my attention...when I melted off that diseased limb of his...the shock of such a thing could have done so as well despite my efforts to be merciful...yet again he survived. To cheat death twice in such fashions would warrant my attention, but the boy has cheated death once again Darius...this time saving the young daughter of one of my more loyal followers. Not only did he accomplish this...but he somehow regenerated the eye Lord Voldemort took from him myself....and managed to repair his arm that was once a silver limb...again through my good graces..." There was a mix of pride...mystery..and annoyance in his voice as he spoke...but the fact that Leni Von Wittelsbach was alive...was soley due to Firius Oxley's heroism...also reports were that the boy was hanging around Slytherin more than any other house anyways. This too helped as Lord Voldemort thought of the boy's fate. As it was he would be of no use for the original plan for the boy anyway...but if he could be brought into the fold willingly....

I have decided Darius..." He said with finality that Darius knew there would be no argument no matter the decision. "I have decided...the boy will be tested. Should he find himself able to read his family heritage in the dark arts...I will allow his education in such a topic...to continue. BUT..."He looked to Darius as he says this." I tell you now Darius the boy's education..Lord Voldemort will decide. If his ability is any like the family members before him...we will not delay in his education. Firius Oxley may have been denied his birthright by never seeing these spells...but that need not stay that way. If Firius is able to learn his family's dark magic...he will be able to learn many aspects of Dark Magic. Lord Voldemort would find that very useful indeed Darius. But the boy will learn respect. He despite never meeting him...has too much of his father in him. Sometimes a man can find himself dead before he finds himself humbled."

Darius nodded. Yes...yes my lord. Thank you for the opportunity my lord. I know the boy will be an asset. As you say he has already saved a member of a rival house. Not many Gryffindors would have even bothered. He is brave...he will do our side proud given the proper encouragement. He has been starved in discovering his talents with the Dark Arts...but I know he will be able to read the spells my Lord. I shall word it in a way to tell him that the books binding can sometimes stick...that way when he responds he will be sure to tell me if he can open them or not...but he will my Lord...I know he will. I will send him the first volumes right away. Lighting the dark candles....fiend flame...dragon's breath...nothing too terribly advanced. Should he find he has no problem reading the spells?:

"Then encourage him to practice them. In fact...we may be able to encourage his education further. The boy has never seen you or met you therefore has no knowledge of your mannerisms. With polyjuice potion it may be possible for many of our circle to help teach the boy. In disguise as either you or Sorena. I shall talk with Severus and see if we cannot lift the boy's ban going into Hogsmeade. He needs to be able to get out of the castle for this to be successful...but with weekends to learn with a skilled dark wizard....his education could become more polished far more quickly."

Yes...of course my Lord." Darius said relieved this had gone so well....though arguably Firius had sold his own case...now he just needed to keep it that way. "Then if you will excuse me My lord...I shall go and send the books to him immediately. His last letter was quite touching...and Sorena and I would like to hear from him again."

Voldmort nodded. Family connections...yet another puppet string some of his most loyal followers provided him. Lucius had Draco...many of his former Death Eaters had taken the family way...it provided an expedited journey back into the fold for any that dared cross him. Though most never dreamt of such a thing. They knew better. He ran a lazy finger over Nagini as she slithered into the room.

:We shall see Nagini...if the boy truly is talented...or just an appetizer for you waiting to happen."

Marcus Flint, Chaser for Chudley; Death Eater
Adrian Pucey, Ministry go-fer under Arthur Weasley; Death Eater
Draco Malfoy, 6th year Slytherin Prefect + Captain/Seeker; Death Eater
Vincent Crabbe/Gregory Goyle, 6th year Slytherins + Beaters (TEMPED)

"So, how many is that then?" Adrian asked before downing a shot of whiskey. "That's at least five this month, isn't it?"

"Seven, to be exact. In the last month." Flint flashed a crooked smile. "But who's counting?"

The Quidditch scandal involving players from many of the professional teams being caught using performance-enhancing potions raged on. The sports writers wrote of hardly anything else and increasingly the bookies took as many if not more bets on who would fall victim next than which team would win any given game or championship.

"You're not worried you're next to be de-broomed?" Pucey laughed and flagged the tired-looking waitress to bring another round.

"De-broomed?" Flint asked. And then he got it. Again, he flashed his horribly crooked teeth. "No. Not worried at all. I know I'm in the clear." He downed his 5th straight shot that afternoon and openly admired the behind of the waitress as she walked away.

"I was surprised, actually, when I heard that Scrutton got caught with one too many husks on the head of his broom, if you know what I mean?"

Flint looked distinctly unimpressed. He shrugged. "Scrutton was always going on about his shaft and what he could do with it. Frankly, no one misses him even on his own team." Darren Scrutton, former Ravenclaw, was one of the more celebrated Chasers in Appleby Arrows' history.

"That's not what I meant. Whatever his personality, he wasn't a Mudblood like all the others. His mum was a witch."

Flint's expression did not change. "Was a witch is right."

"How d'you mean?"

"She married a Muggle and then went and lost what little magic she could do. Word has it the silly little bint hasn't even held a wand in years. Sits on a local council of Muggle-monkeys doing whatever it is those people do to make themselves feel important. Scrutton's the next thing to being a Mudblood, the way she raised him." He asked for yet another drink and something to eat.

Pucey understood, but said nothing out loud. Not only Muggleborns were being targeted in professional Quidditch now, but also Halfbloods with strong ties to the Muggle side of their families. Whatever nefarious plan was afoot, Flint was clearly involved up to his ragged teeth. And the plan had obviously ratcheted up a notch to stage 2. As of yet, not one single Pureblood had been implicated.

Flint suddenly stood up a little and yelled, "OY! YOU THERE!"

Most of the denizens dropped their heads a little, clearly reluctant to get involved in whatever was about to unfold. Flint was known for more than being involved in large-scale bar brawls. He was known for starting them; the most recent one being a scant two weeks previously in the Three Broomsticks where he was still persona non grata.

"MALFOY! You little pillock!" He motioned for Malfoy to come join them.

With some reluctance, Draco and friends got up and did just that. "What?" Malfoy asked after about a minute of silence while he and his former Quidditch captain stared at each other.

Flint licked his lips and struck a pose of disappointment. "Is that how you greet an old friend? I thought you'd be happy to see me. After all I've done for you?" He glanced at Pucey with a 'can you believe this look on his face. His gaze returned to Malfoy.

"Where is she then?"

"Who?"

Flint struck Malfoy on the arm with enough force to knock him a bit of balance. "You bloody well know who. I wrote to her this week and to you. You at least had the decency to write back. You probably want a thank you for that but you're not going to get one. But you will get my appreciation for confirming that she did get my letter. So now, my question to you is this. Where...is...she?"

"She's got detention."

Flint was genuinely taken aback. "Detention? Her? For what?"

Truth may well be stranger than fiction and in this case anything Draco could have made up would pale in comparison to what had actually transpired. Draco went for it. "She got caught in the Forbidden Forest with a Gryffindor the night of the Full Moon."

Pucey whistled.

Flint stared at Draco, his mouth agape. "Was she under Imperius?"

Draco shook his head no. "But the Gryff boy was unconscious. It seems Potter is not the only one with a saving people thing."

"Bloody rot at Hogwarts is even affecting the Slytherins now." Flint looked worried.

Draco went on. "Snape gave her detention."

"For how long?" Flint was now concerned. This was not going to be easy. He had not seen her since the day the Weasley girl was kidnapped. It had a bit of fortuitous serendipity that she had crossed his path outside Puddifoot's that day. He could still feel her limp form in his strong embrace. He had had her then in his possession until something...he still did not know what...had interfered. Somehow he'd gone from about to have his way with her to lying on the ground with a throbbing headache and no memory at all of what had led to that turn of events, though he had his suspicions.

"Indefinitely." Malfoy answered.

Bloody hell!" Pucey said under his breath.

This only strengthened Flint's suspicions about who had thwarted him before.

"Well, at least until she is 30 or 40." Draco almost smiled, but then thought better of it.

Flint considered all that had been said. "You're still seeing her?"

Draco nodded.

"That's a yes, is it?" Flint prodded. Draco did not seem all that interested in her.

Again, Draco nodded.

"Is that a yes?" Flint prodded again.

"Yes, I'm still seeing her. All right?"

"And she feels the same way about you?" Flint was clearly enjoying himself. He liked making people squirm.

"Yes, she does."

Flint said nothing for a good while, enjoying every second that Draco squirmed."Come with me!" He said suddenly, grabbed Draco by the arm and led him to a dark corner of the establishment. "There's something I need to know."

"I'll tell you anything," Draco squeaked in fear at the sight of Flint's wand in his face . "Just don't kill me."

"You can do a lot more with a wand than kill people, Malfoy. Killing them outright is never all that satisfying. You'll learn. Oh will you learn." He laughed. "Legilimens!"

Draco offered no resistance whatsoever. His every thought, emotion and memory of Leni laid bare for Flint to probe, examine and seize. The memory of the hallway came into focus. Flint dwelled on that, looking at it from every angle; almost ripping it from Draco's head to make it his own. Finally, he withdrew. Satisfied, he let go of Draco.

"For that you will get a hearty thank you."

Draco cowered in fear. He said nothing.

"And nice use of Imperius. Lestrange's time wasn't entirely wasted, I see. There's hope for you yet, Malfoy."

Draco tried to puff himself up, to look pleased at the compliment. And yet, much as he wanted to be proud of his ability, the more he thought of what had been done to Leni that evening, the less pride he took in his part.

*She would have done it anyway* He said to himself again. He needed to believe that. The alternative was too horrible to contemplate.

"You should run back to your little bird. She must miss you. Leaving her all alone in the nest is probably not a good idea."

Draco nodded and turned to head back to his table. All thoughts of looking for a hidden passage fled from his mind.

"MALFOY!" Flint called.

Draco looked back at him, anxious to be away from him.

"Give her my love." He flashed an evil smile.

Draco Malfoy, 6th year Slytherin Prefect + Captain/Seeker; Death Eater
Vincent Crabbe/Gregory Goyle, 6th year Slytherins + Beaters

To say Draco Malfoy was disappointed would not be an understatement. Despite his reputation as a haughty and deeply arrogant git who always got his way, he had known real disappointment in his 16 years. And known it more than once. He had not been allowed to join the Quidditch team as a first year, despite obvious ability. Rules were not bent for him the way they were for other people, namely a certain bespectacled wizard named Harry Potter. More than once his father refused to buy him any little bauble that caught his eye during their excursions to Knockturn Alley. He'd been humiliated by the one-time DADA teacher. Those bruises from being slammed on a stone floor repeatedly had taken months to go away and that even with magic.

Things did not always come easy to him and he'd already had the lesson drilled into him that money did not always buy happiness. Oh did he know that one. Nothing could undo the damage that had been done to his once stable relationship with Pansy Parkinson. Nor had a large back account kept his father out of Azkaban not all that long ago. Granted, it had helped get him out faster than might have been expected, but Draco suspected there was more to it than a large number of Galleons changing hands.

"Didn't you know that was there?" Crabbe asked. He had grown up thinking Malfoy knew everything. Now his thoughts were often along the lines of 'well, Malfoy knows a lot and he knows a lot of people'. He referenced the slide that proved impossible to get up from the Hogsmeade side. Sliding down it to get to Hogsmeade would be easy enough. Getting up it had proved stubbornly difficult as the surface seemed jinxed or hexed to prevent that from happening, much like the slides that appeared when any boys attempted to get into the girls' dormitories.

*The same witch who made them probably made this, too* Draco thought. Rowena Ravenclaw being a likely candidate.

"If I had known it was here, would I have wasted all our time coming here?" Draco looked around. Satisfied there was no evidence they'd been there, he motioned for his friends to follow him.

"Where are we going now?" Crabbe asked while glancing back a final time at the slide.

"Back to Hogsmeade." Draco stated with a little irritation. "There's one other place we can check. My father told me about it."

"Where's that? Is it somewhere I can get a drink?" This time it was Goyle speaking. He sported a ring of chocolate around his mouth and one at least eight of his ten fingertips.

Draco swallowed back his disgust "As it just so happens, yeah, you can get a drink there."

"Has this place got a name?" Crabbe asked, ever the more practical one of the two.

Draco nodded. "Have either of you been to the Hogs Head lately?" He smiled. The place had a seedy reputation nearly as bad as Knockturn Alley. Dark witches and wizards frequented the establishment whose image as a hard knock pub had been only slightly deflected by Potter choosing it as the recruiting grounds for his ill-fated that year little fan club. Word had it Granger wanted it. That much figured. The little Mudblood knew nothing about wizarding culture and showed even less respect to what little might have rubbed off from the blood traitors, the Weasleys. At times, he could almost pity her, knowing as little as she did, but then he remembered that was the natural order of things. Life was a hierarchy and she was nearly at the bottom. Only actual Muggles ranked lower.

"I need a drink. Do you think we could get a fire whiskey there?"

Draco shrugged. "I don't see why not. I doubt Aberforth has any scruples, not when there's money to be made."

"He's still a Dumbledore." Again, Crabbe with his voice of reason.

"You've heard the stories," Draco prompted. "It's his business to not mind anyone else's business. And he's very good at that, unlike his older brother."

The trio walked steadily, reemerged into the light of Hogsmeade, slipped easily into the sugar-happy throng at Honeydukes, Goyle bought another couple chocolate bars and then they headed together in the direction of the Hogs Head.

"Bloody hell," Draco sighed under his breath. "I don't believe that wanker is here."

Crabbe and Goyle quickly scanned the mostly hidden faces of the few denizens there as their eyes adjusted to the very very dim lighting inside. Both saw their former classmate at the same time. "Flint. What's he doing here?"

"He's playing a game tomorrow at Ilkley Moor." Draco commented. Ilkley Moor in West Yorkshire was not 'that' far away from Hogsmeade. He still followed Flint's professional career as a Chaser for the Chudley Cannons. Flint had been in the papers quite a bit the last couple of months. His reputation remained as horrible as it had ever been.

Draco motioned for Crabbe and Goyle to follow him to a spot on the other side of the dimly lit room. Finding the secret passage would be a lot more difficult with him there. This was not good. The three boys ordered and received a fire whiskey each. Goyle gulped his down, not even choking a bit. Crabbe drank more slowly, but still took full mouthfuls. Draco sipped at his and tried to think.

Fergus O'Brien - 5th year Hufflepuff

Fergy liked Hogsmeade. He liked the shops and he liked to be away from the castle. He was happy there....at Hogwarts....but it was just nice to get away sometimes. Change things up for a new perspective, as his ma would say. From his 6'4 perspective well...he just wanted a Butterbeer.

Hunching down into his hoodie and scarf, Fergy steared his long and gangly form into The Three Broomsticks. It was crowded with students and he waved a few Hufflepuffs who were in the corner. They were putting their coats on so it would be no use joining them. Fergy settled him at the counter and ordered a Butterbeer and a Shepherd's Pie. He would never tell his ma this...but Madame Rosmerta's pie was better than hers.

He was happily tucking into his meal when someone sat down next to him. It only took a second, but Fergys long arms got the best of him and he knocked his half full mug of of Butterbeer onto the lap of his new neighbor.

"Oh Lord...I am so sorry!" Fergy said as he reached for napkins to help clean up the mess he made.

  Hogsmeade personal dilemmas

Barbary Bole, 6TH Year Slytherin
Ella Sitchlid, 6TH Year Hufflepuff
Etheria White, 5TH Year Ravenclaw

It was a bit rowdy in the Hogshead just now. Wanting a little peace and quiet, Barbary Bole was idly strolling around Hogsmeade. Not really turning her footsteps to one place in particular, she was horrified to find herself passing by the disgusting Madam Puddifoot shop.

She glanced in at all the snogging couples, and froze. Was she really seeing what she thought she saw?

Barbary blinked, and looked again. Yes, there it was in plain site, Smith, and some girl that was definitely not the giantess Etheria White?

Barbary was amazed and dismayed to find hot anger flooding through her. whys should she care? She'd always known what a hypocrite, like most pure-bloods, Zacharias Smith was? And he was not her boyfriend. She didn't care one bit about that Ravenclaw girl, either. but still, she felt like barging in and taking her wand to him.

Barbary stood still for a long moment, glaring poisoned daggers in at Smith who probably never noticed anyone else was there. Turning on her heel, Barbary stalked irritably away. She decided to head back towards Honeydukes and some of the main shops. If she happened to find Sitchlid, she'd tel her what her best friend, or was he now an X best friend as the two no longer seemed glued at the hip, was up to these days.

***

"There now," Ella beamed over at her Ravenclaw friend as the two walked down the school drive towards some Hogsmeade freedom. "Isn't a bit of fresh air nice."

Etheria only shrugged. She still was not sure she should have let Ella talk her out of the day in the Library she had planned for herself. Still, the fresh air on her face did feel good. "Zach still being a number one Git then," Ella asked trying to sound offhanded about it all.

"Ella!" Etheria protested.

"I"m sorry, Lassie, but I don't get what's up with him these days. I know he's put out at me, but that's no excuse for him taking it out also on you."

Etheria set her jaw stubbornly. "Ella, when I agreed to come out here with you, my one stipulation was that we not talk about Zacharias, remember?"

Ella heaved a sigh. Privately, she made up her mind to corner Zach sometime later today and thrash some sense out of or in to him, whatever came easiest.

"Alright, Lass," Ella gave in. far too easily, Etheria could not help but think.

"you're right," Ella was saying. "I promise I won't mention the name again. Now where'd ya like to go first, eh? I dunno about you, but I can go for something, anything, chocolate."

Etheria grinned in spite of herself. Chocolate, the temporary balm for all girls troubles."

The two found themselves in the thick of Honeydukes. Etheria loved the candy here, though she usually could buy very little with her limited funds. And she wished there might be a sweet shop that was not always so crowded.

becoming temporarily separated from Ella in the crowd, Etheria stopped to admire a large rack of extravagant luscious chocolates with cream centers.

"Sitchlid here with you?" a slightly familiar voice at her elbow made Etheria jump. Whirling around, she gaped in astonishment.

"Bole, isn't it? Were you speaking to me?"

"Yes, amazing isn't it, Barbary quipped. "I asked if you'd seen Sitchlid anywhere about?"

"And what concern is that of yours?" Etheria wanted to know.

The older Slytherin girl only shrugged.

"Oh, just six year stuff to talk about, that's all. never mind, I think I see her." And without another word or backward glance, Barbary walked away.

***

"You're lying!"

Ella stood glaring at Bole, her hands on her hips and the crowd and candy suddenly forgotten.

"Now why would I bother," Barbary asked, half to Ella and half to herself. Just why was she bothering about this?

"everyone knows you hate Zach," Ella began.

"I do not hate your little friend," Barbary cut in. "He's not worth hating. And, why am I doing this?" The Slytherin girl gave an exaggerated sigh, and spread her hands. "Because life has gotten really strange around here lately, i suppose. Take my warning however you want."

Feeling hot and flustered and more than a little foolish that she even bothered, Barbary stalked out of the shop.

Ella stood watching Bole go. She didn't know what to do. Should she go and see if Bole was telling the truth? And, what about Etheria?

  Among the Halls (Firius Oxley)
Posted by: jelfman - Feb 29, 2016, 09:48 AM - Forum: Corridors - Replies (2)

Firius Oxley 5th year Gryffindor

Firius Oxley to say he had a turn around was an understatement. Rumors still echoed the halls of how he had gone alone into the depths of the Black Lake to save Leni Von Wittelsbach. A known Slytherin girl who had a habit of trying to commit suicide. But Firius had got to know Leni shortly before that adventure began...and the two had become friends. Firius had told Leni he would never let her drown...never knowing he would prove that claim in short order after claiming it. But saving Leni was the right thing to do...and Hogwarts had rewarded Firius for such bravery. His eye was whole...though an electric blue tint due to the healing waters...and his arm was now his once again...though it still had the dark mark. Snape had told Firius the Dark Lord's anger towards him would be great. Firius nearly smiled when the Professor said such a thing...fighting the urge to tell Snape he would be seeing Voldemort far sooner than Firius himself would.

He had heard rumors of course of himself and Leni together now. Honestly. The girl was pretty but she could do better than Firius. Besides if it helped strengthen his relationship with the SLytherins so be it. He could put that to excellent use given the circumstances. As it was now...Harry and Firius were finally on speaking terms again and the whole house seemed to warm up to him once again now that the truth had come out of his involvement saving Leni. He would never forget what it was like being isolated from his own house though. It was hard...and still he found himself heading towards his dorm room right out of the portrait hole until one of his housemates would ask if he wanted to play wizard chess or something. After that he tried to stay in the common room. Younger years didn't mind his company. They weren't scared by him anymore...they wanted to hear the story of his rescue of Leni....they oo'd and ahh'd in all the right places. Firius didn't mind the positive attention...and he often thought that maybe the younger years didn't want to hear the story so much as they felt safer having Firius around. It was a surprise..but one he wouldn't take lightly. He would help younger years feel safe. He felt it was his duty as an older student.

He continued walking the halls. Rumor was that Professor Snape wanted a word with him. He rolled his eyes thinking about it. He was still having lessons with Zathour which suited Firius fine. Leni and him kissing? Yeah Snape wouldn't make Firius life difficult at all in the times ahead if he believed them. Still. Firius had done his best not to start anything with Snape at the moment either. He was enjoying a walk through the halls. Wondering who he would meet today.

  That old black magic
Posted by: slytherinwitch - Feb 27, 2016, 08:39 AM - Forum: Corridors - No Replies

Zach Smith, 6th year Hufflepuff + Chaser
Maeve Rollins, 5th year Ravenclaw + Prefect
Lexx Zathour, 7th year Slytherin head Boy + Keeper; Death Eater

Sometimes, life was just too easy Lexx thought as he leaned against a wall close to the Ravenclaw common room. Securing the box of chocolates presented no difficulties whatsoever. Enchanting them was even less of a problem. He had Daniel Marie to thank for that useful little handwriting altering spell, although obtaining a sample of White's handwriting had proved a little more difficult. The Ravenclaw giant was known to be a prodigious note-taker, but was also very diligent about keeping her things in order. In the end, he had managed to procure a small torn sample that had thankfully proved sufficient for the spell to work. Delivering the box of chocolates with a note **in Etheria White's handwriting** to Zach Smith had been little more than tying a bow onto a brilliantly wrapped little package. Delivering a similar box to Maeve Rollins, the little 5th year prefect was the final piece of the puzzle, so to speak.

*Secret admirers* he smiled to himself. Now, all he had to do was hope the two would meet up and find a reason to each eat a chocolate.

*And there he is, looking a bit worried* Lexx watched Zach Smith walk into view near the Ravenclaw common room. Zach looked around anxiously each time the Ravenclaw entrance opened, obviously looking for his girlfriend, and each time she failed to appear, he looked even more dejected than he'd been during her brief foray into the 'doll house'. Lexx could barely contain himself.

*When you wear your heartstrings on your sleeve, it's asking a puppeteer to grab them and make you dance*

"Zach?" A small voice asked. "Zach Smith, isn't it?"

Lexx perked up at the sight of the small Ravenclaw girl approaching the Hufflepuff boy.

"You're most likely waiting for Etheria. I haven't seen her in a while. I think she's been studying extra hard to try and catch up. O.W.L. year, I'm sure you remember."

"She's not in there?" He pointed to the common room.

"Like I said, she's probably studying. Have you looked in the library? She's been going there a lot in the early mornings to avoid the hustle and bustle of the common room so she can concentrate on her studies." Maeve looked around the hallway repeatedly.

"Are you waiting for someone in particular?" Zach asked her. He thought he could recall she'd been dumped quite publicly by someone about two weeks earlier.

"Er, no...," Maeve stammered unconvincingly. "Not really. I mean, I'm not sure...who I'm going to Hogsmeade with today...or if I'll even go."

Zach thought she looked very dejected. "Come on then, a little bit of sun, if we're lucky, might do us both a world of good."

Maeve smiled but a touch of skepticism remained in her eyes. "I know, but I don't really want to go alone after all that's happened with Ginny Weasley and all."

Ginny was in Maeve's year, Zach remembered.

*And there he comes, bless his little heart, Pritchard* Lexx watched as the young Slytherin walked past the two and then stopped short. "Smith, right? Everyone knows who you are. Anyway, the White girl is in the library. I just saw her there, said to tell you she really needs to get caught up on her classwork and doesn't think shell be able to go to Hogsmeade this week. Said for you to go though. No sense in you not going."

"And she couldn't tell me this herself?"

*Why did she write that note then?* He screamed inside his head.

"The little doll is way behind schedule now and needs to catch up."

Zach lunged at the younger Slytherin. "You little..."

Maeve restrained him. "He's not worth it, Zach. Let him go."

Zach did not resist Maeve's gentle restraint, but sneered viciously at the Slytherin now striding away with a jaunty grin plastered on his arrogant little face. Maeve frowned. Pritchard for all his arrogance and obvious delight in saying hurtful things, had not actually done anything 'wrong', nothing that could be punished anyway.

Maeve fished in her bag and pulled out a piece of chocolate. "Professor Lupin swears by this, so it must be good." She offered it to Zach.

He accepted it and then handed her one from his own bag. From the sidelines, Lexx watched anxiously as each took the proffered chocolates and popped them into their mouths.

"That's good chocolate," Zach said easily. "Where'd you get it from?" His gaze never left Maeve's face. Maeve, in turn, gazed intently at Zach.

*That old black magic has you in its spell* Lexx hummed softly.

Maeve and Zach joined hands, still gazing intently at each other and oblivious to everything and everyone around them.

*That old black magic that I weave so well* Lexx continued.

Zach and Maeve, arms entwined, walked off together; still lost in each other's eyes.

Lexx smiled and hoped it would not be long until someone shared the news with Etheria White.''

*Those icy fingers up and down her spine*

Before they disappeared from view, Zach leaned over and kissed Maeve's cheek. She giggled happily.

*That same old witchcraft when your eyes meet...*

Lexx walked away himself, pleased with how that had turned out.

  Where are we going?
Posted by: slytherinwitch - Feb 26, 2016, 12:14 PM - Forum: Hogsmeade - No Replies

Draco Malfoy, 6th year Slytherin Prefect + Captain/Seeker
Gregory Goyle and Vincent Crabbe, 6th year Slytherins+ Beaters (TEMPED)

Far removed from any prying ears and ever heedful of the admonition they would all be asked to render a service for the Dark Lord when asked, Draco was beside himself with his latest news and anxious to share it with his two ever-present friends.

"Where'd you say we were going again?" Crabbe asked.

"Hogwarts," Draco answered and grinned knowingly.

"But Hogwarts is that way!" Goyle insisted and for a moment stopped walking. "We should be going back that way."

"You're not leading us back yet, are you?" Crabbe looked supremely disappointed. They'd not yet indulged in any butter beers or stuffed their pockets with as many sweets as possible.

Draco stopped short and looked around. "I have to swear you to secrecy."

"You know we'll keep secrets." Both boys intoned.

"I mean it," Draco said simply. He pulled his wand. "We all remember how to cast an unbreakable vow, right?"

His two friends nodded solemnly. Bellatrix Lestrange was a formidable instructor, her lessons that summer memorable. And indeed, all thee boys had shown quite an aptitude for darker spells. Clearly, intent played an important role in magical ability.

It took but a few minutes before the boys emerged back into the chilly sunlight that lit the streets but afforded little warmth. "And we're going by way of Honeydukes." He motioned for them to follow and to stay as quiet as possible. Honeydukes would be absolutely packed with eager students looking to lighten their wallets and stuff their faces.

All three made their way into the sweets shop. It was every bit as crowded as Malfoy expected, but he hoped that might work to their advantage. Most if not all the students were very focused on their favourite sweets and the new offerings available that week-end. All three purchased their usual allotments. Draco set aside a few bars of chocolate for Leni and a few exploding bonbons, use to be decided later.

None left the establishment, but continued to look at the new offerings, all the while sliding towards the back room. One by one, they slipped silently into the back.
